Muchos tienen influencia europea adaptada al gusto local. Tradicional entre los cariocas es el Filete a la Osvaldo Aranha, homenaje a un diplom\u00e1tico y pol\u00edtico brasile\u00f1o, que nunca dec\u00eda que \u201cno\u201d a un filete cubierto de ajo frito, acompa\u00f1ado de arroz, <em>farofa<\/em> (harina de mandioca rehogada con mantequilla, ajo, huevo y tocino) y papa portuguesa. Entre los antipasto o aperitivos, la Sardina Frita es lo que m\u00e1s se pide en los bares. En una ciudad a orillas de mar, nada como la sopa Le\u00e3o Veloso, servida con pescado, camarones, mejillones, calamares y cangrejo, una adaptaci\u00f3n de un plato de la culinaria francesa hecha por el embajador de Brasil en Francia en los a\u00f1os 1920, Paulo Le\u00e3o Veloso.
