As president of the Rio de Janeiro City Tourism Company – Riotur, Marcelo Alves has among his attributions to make the city even more attractive to domestic and foreign tourists. This is a task he plays with great focus on marketing. And near the end of the year, the eyes of the world turn here, attentive to two of the largest and most popular festivals on the planet: Rio New Year’s Eve and Carnival. \u201cOn New Year’s Eve, we will keep the 14-minutes fireworks display and we will have several stages again along Copacabana Beach, toast the audience of over 2.5 million people with musical diversity. Scattered throughout other regions of the city, we will still have nine stages with shows to celebrate the New Year’s Eve,\u201dsays Marcelo Alves. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Carnival – when 7 million revelers roam the streets of Rio – will be different in 2020. \u201cCity Hall wants to increase the parties where there is no admission fee, the people’s Carnival. With this we are increasing the incentive to the parades of samba schools of series B, C and D, setting up 40 popular stages, organizing the contest of King Momo, Queen and Princesses, supporting the parade of 500 blocks of Carnival. Special group samba schools will no longer have public resources, but we have encouraged and supported them in their search for partnerships and private sponsorship. The City Hall will be present on the streets and in the Sambadrome. We’ll have another iconic Carnival.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
